CAREGIVER HOUSING 2007 We are still raising funds for this project. |
The Hospital must attract professional staff members to serve their population of 260,000. They need to increase their compliment of nurses, doctors and other professionals to meet its expanding services. Basic Accommodation is very important in the recruitment of health care workers to the rural areas, but there are no vacancies at the moment. There is no room in the inn. For $10,000 US we can construct two single level homes (a duplex), employing local tradesmen; employment that would be a substantial economy by North American standards. |

INTRAVENOUS FLUIDS 2007 |
Zimbabwe ran out of intravenous fluids in January 2007 when the local manufacturer stopped production. Emergencies become truly serious when a hospital has no ability to resuscitate the patient. The Howard Hospital is an acute care hospital with a maternity department that delivers 2,500 babies a year and a busy operating room in which they perform over 2000 surgical procedures a year Leaside has forwarded $2,500 towards IV fluids at $2 US a litre bag from a wholesaler in Europe. This will hopefully save hundreds of lives. |
